Unit and Membership Renewal

Scouting America offers an online member and unit renewal process. Effective March 2024, unit renewal and member renewal will no longer be one and the same. Membership is now a set 12 month term from the time of registering regardless of when the unit renews. Youth and adult leader membership fees will be separated from the unit renewal.

Visit the national Unit & Membership Renewal site for more details.

Listed below are several resources to assist with smooth and improved renewal processes.  All units and members currently registered with the BSA need to complete this process on a yearly basis.

Use these resources to help your unit’s renewal. You can also visit the Internet Recharter Responses to Forum-Related Questions/Discussions helpdesk for additional questions and timely assistance.

Why is Youth Protection training so important? It communicates the values that Scouting takes seriously.

Who should undergo Youth Protection training? Everyone. All registered Scout leaders, any Scout parent who attends trips or campouts, merit badge counselors, and anyone with a connection to youth. If you’re a past member, current member, parent, or volunteer, you should be Youth Protection trained.

The Heart of New England Council Executive Board established the expectation and directive that all registered adult members have a Youth Protection Guidelines Training Certification that will not expire until after the unit charter does.  For example, if the unit charter runs from January 1, 2025 until December 31, 2025, ALL registered adult volunteers Safeguarding Youth Training must expire after December 31, 2025.  Any Adult Volunteer who fails to comply will be dropped from the Units Charter and them must submit a new adult application, Cori/Sori Form, CBC Form and proof of completion of Safeguarding Youth Training in order to be reregistered.
