Introducing: Spring Camporee Hosted by Catamount Lodge
Event description:
The Catamount Camporee is the first council-wide camporee being hosted by Catamount Lodge at Treasure Valley Scout Reservation. This camporee is open to all units. Units stay in campsites, cook their own meals, and participate in activities like shooting sports, field sports, and more to try to win the Catamount Cup. We will hold a Call-out Ceremony. During the evenings of the camporee, our Shows committee hosts fun and interactive shows, much like summer camp. Our Branding & Publications committee is working on promotional pieces for social media as well as merchandise to be sold at the event, such as t-shirts and hoodies. Finally, we will have vendors and sponsors for the event. These include our council camps, the National Guard, and local fire department and EMTs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. Will units be provided food?
For the most part, no, this is a unit/patrol cooking event. Units will purchase, pack, and cook their own food. The provisional unit is served food and eats with staff during the duration of the event. The exception to this is lunch on Saturday. Our kitchen staff will prepare grab-and-go lunches for all units so they do not have to go back to their sites to cook.
Q2. Will the shower house be open?
At this time, we are unsure if it will be open for the camporee. Plan to not have access to showers for the duration of the event. We will let you know if any plans change.
Q3. What is the Catamount Cup?
The Catamount Cup is the coveted prize of earning the most points throughout the activities around camp. Through building the best lashings, winning gaga ball, or participating in our multitude of participation activities, try your hardest to earn the Catamount Cup!
Q4. Who can we contact about any questions or concerns throughout the weekend?
Your unit packets that you will receive during check-in will include a list of key staff to reach out to if you have any issues or concerns. Prior to the camporee, reach out to Camporee Chair Jack Anderson at jack.anderson@hnescouting.org and Adviser Michael Guertin at michael.guertin@hnescouting.org with any questions.
Q5. Where can we get water?
You can get water at the spigot on the side of Magee, up at the Farmhouse (council office), or at East Lodge. There will likely be water at the bottom of the hill, but this is not guaranteed. We will keep leaders posted about this as we get closer to the event.
Q6. Where can we dump our gray water?
Gray water can be disposed of following the standard rule of thumb. Dump water at least 200ft from your campsite and neighboring sites. Also, be sure to stay away from streams and other bodies of water when disposing of gray water.
If you have any other questions, comments, or concerns, email Camporee Chair Jack Anderson at jack.anderson@hnescouting.org and Adviser Michael Guertin at michael.guertin@hnescouting.org.
