Celebrating 100 Years of Building the Leader of Tomorrow!

Where it all began!

When Camp Glen Echo in Charton no longer met the needs of the growing Worcester Council, they began looking for a better location. With the help of civic clubs in Worcester and under the leadership of Jerome R. George and Joseph B. Wadleigh, the search led to the purchase of the “Old Browning Homestead” on February 1, 1926. The property, covering 525 acres, was bought thanks to donations from nine civic clubs: Avoda, Civitan, Exchange, Harmony, Kiwanis, Lions, Quota, Reciprocity, and Rotary. A Worcester Sunday Telegram article celebrated the purchase, calling it a place that would serve generations of boys for centuries. On July 1, 1926, the first group of Treasure Valley campers arrived, with Joseph B. Wadleigh as camp director.

Reflect on the Past, Live the Present, Look to the Future!

A century of memories deserves more than just one event – it’s time to celebrate 100 years of the Treasure Valley experience! The Treasure Valley Alumni Association is hosting a year-long celebration to commemorate this milestone. Join us as we reflect on our history, shape the future, and share the stories that have made our camp special throughout the year.

Documenting the Past

100th Anniversary Museum

The Alumni Association has been hard at work the last few years gathering and cataloging artifacts related to camp. We have collected everything from patches and photos, slides and brochures, camp maps and documents. The team is curating these assets, purchased and collected entirely by volunteers, into our 100th Anniversary Museum. This museum will have its grand opening at the Summer Reunion Weekend in June, and live at camp for the entire summer so campers, leaders, and alumni can enjoy. After the camp season, it will be on showcase at the Homecoming Banquet in November. The goal is to also share the museum in an online format as well.

The Alumni Association History team is in search of patches, photos, slides, videos, brochures, camp maps, documents, t-shirts – your name it; we’re looking for it! The history team will be digitizing items and you can sign up for a time to drop stuff off and meet with the team. We’ll also be recording oral histories which you can sign up to record in our portable studio.

Don’t live in the area anymore? Contact us to work with us to digitize your materials at home and submit them to us, or pick a time to record your oral history via video conference.
