Why Work at Summer Camp?
The life of a camp staff member is a tough yet rewarding experience. Camp staff work for 6.5 weeks each summer to deliver a high quality program to the Scouts of New England. Staff members come together for one week of physical set up and staff development before opening Treasure Valley for 4 weeks of program. At the conclusion of the summer, camp staff spend half a week putting things away for next year.
Through it all, you’ll make lifelong friendships with Scouts from across the area. Living, eating, and working with friends is the job of a lifetime for many.
Should get an internship instead?

Life of a Camp Staff Member
Camp staff live and work at camp from Sunday through Saturday. Staff compensation includes a competitive wage, provided with 17 meals per week, housing, and a staff uniform shirt. First Aid & CPR/AED training are provided free to all staff. Nights out of camp for supervised trips into town are allowed. Time off is available to staff with ample notice to the administration prior to the start of camp. Staff are also encouraged to take advantage of the development opportunities available to them to complete advancement and merit badges.

The process to hire a camp staff for the upcoming summer begins almost 10 months before. An online application is available during the months of October and November with a submission deadline of November 15th*. Interviews for accepted applications take place during two times; late November for Senior Staff positions (over the age of 18 for the upcoming summer), and late December for Junior Staff positions (under the age of 18 for the upcoming summer). Accepted applicants will be contacted about an setting up an interview. Submitting an application does not automatically grant you an interview. If selected for an interview, you will be contacted by email. Senior staff applicants will be contacted after November 1. Junior staff applicants will be contacted after December 6. All applicants must be age 15 before the start of staff set up week in late June (June 22, 2025). Questions can be directed to director@tvsrbsa.org.

The Treasure Valley CIT Corps for 2026!
Not old enought for camp staff? No worrries; if you are 14 or 15, but not yet 16, by the summer of 2026, you can join the Treasure Valley CIT Corps! The goal of the CIT program is to produce the next generation of outstanding camp staff members. You could be one of them!
Here is how the Treasure Valley CIT Corps will benefit you:
First and foremost, you will get to see if camp staff life is something you would be interested in for a future summer
•You will learn the entire physical layout of Treasure Valley, including areas seldom seen by campers.
•You will expand your knowledge of the rich history, culture and traditions of Treasure Valley.
•You will improve your understanding of the camp program and become familiar with the camp program and service areas.
•You will learn camp staff regulations, policies and expectations.
•You will learn camp standards such as Youth Protection, safety protocols and emergency procedures.
•You will learn camp related skills including instructional techniques and positive behavior management.
Additionally, you will be encouraged to have some fun, using the many resources of our great camp!
Eligibility To participate in the TVSR CIT Corps, you must be a registered member of Scouting America in good standing. You must provide the name and contact information of your unit (Scout Troop or Venture Crew) leader on the CIT application form.
Age Requirement You must be 14 or 15 years of age, but not yet 16, as of June 28, 2026. Those 16 years of age and older are not eligible for CIT and are encouraged to apply for camp staff.
Already did CIT? If you attended CIT at TVSR last summer as a 14 year old, you are encouraged to attend CIT again this summer as a 15 year old. We modify the program for second year CITs.
Rank Requirement Beginning in 2026, a minimum rank of First Class is required for acceptance into the CIT program. Attainment of First Class rank shows initiative, persistence, and commitment to the Scouting program, qualities highly valued among potential camp staff.
Attendance Those 14 years of age may attend for one week to get a taste of camp staff life, but we highly recommend choosing two weeks to get the full benefits of the program. Those 15 years of age are expected to attend for two weeks. The two weeks do not have to be consecutive if this is necessary to accommodate family or Scout unit plans. A third CIT week may be possible by invitation only to those who show exemplary performance during their first two CIT weeks.
Fee The cost of the program is $150 per week, or $300 for two weeks. Fee is payable by check to the Heart of New England Council upon your arrival at camp.
Medical Form You must submit a printed and completed Heart of New England Council version of the Scouting America medical form upon your arrival in camp. A physical exam within one year of arrival in camp is required and must be documented on Part C of the form. The medical form is available on the camp website and a copy will be sent upon your acceptance into the program.
CIT Director Our CIT Director for the summer of 2026 is Mr. Michael McQuaid. Mike is an Eagle Scout who has 28 summers of experience on Treasure Valley Camp Staff, six of those as Camp Director. This summer will be his sixth, in recent history, as CIT Director. Mike is also chair of the Treasure Valley Facilities and Maintenance Committee.
Application Deadline To be considered, your CIT application must be submitted no later than Tuesday, 7:00 p.m. on the week before your first week in the CIT program. We will not accept applications submitted after this deadline. As we anticipate a number of applications for 2026, you are encouraged to apply early.
